What is Draw?

The draw of a cigar refers to the airflow through the cigar when you take a puff. A good draw is essential for an enjoyable smoking experience, as it allows the smoker to easily pull smoke through the cigar without too much resistance or effort. The quality of the draw is influenced by how the cigar is constructed; if the filler is packed too tightly, the draw can be too firm, making it difficult to smoke and causing frustration. Conversely, if the filler is too loose, the draw can be too easy, resulting in a hot, harsh smoke that burns too quickly. To achieve the perfect draw, cigar rollers must skillfully balance the amount of filler tobacco and how it is packed. Smokers often test the draw before lighting a cigar by taking a few unlit puffs. A well-constructed cigar should have a smooth, effortless draw that allows for a steady flow of smoke, contributing to an even burn and a full-flavored experience.
