What is Nub?
The term “Nub” refers to the small portion of a cigar that remains after most of it has been smoked. Some cigar enthusiasts take great pride in smoking their cigars down to the nub, savoring every last bit of flavor. The Nub is often the most flavorful part of the cigar, as the heat and oils have concentrated near the end, intensifying the taste. However, smoking down to the nub requires a well-constructed cigar with a consistent burn; otherwise, the cigar may become too hot, harsh, or difficult to hold. There is also a popular line of cigars known as “Nub” cigars, which are short, thick cigars designed to deliver the full flavor and experience of a longer cigar in a more compact size. These cigars are typically 4 inches or less in length but have a large ring gauge, allowing for a full-bodied, satisfying smoke that doesn’t take as long to enjoy as a traditional cigar.
