What is Smoke Ring?
A smoke ring is a visual effect created by exhaling a circular ring of smoke, often done as a fun trick by smokers. Smoke rings are easier to create with cigars due to the thick, dense smoke they produce. To blow a smoke ring, a smoker typically forms their mouth into an “O” shape and then gently pushes the smoke out in a controlled manner, using either their throat or a quick tap of the tongue. The rings can vary in size and thickness, and skilled smokers can create multiple rings in succession or even blow rings through each other. While smoke rings are often just for show, they can also be an indicator of the quality of the smoke, as thicker, more visible rings suggest a denser, richer smoke. Smoke rings are a common sight at cigar lounges and gatherings, where smokers may compete to see who can produce the most impressive rings. Beyond their entertainment value, smoke rings are a testament to the art of smoking and the pleasure that cigar enthusiasts derive from the ritual of smoking.
