What is Stalk Cut?
Stalk Cut refers to a method of harvesting tobacco where the entire tobacco plant is cut at the stalk and hung to cure. This method differs from traditional leaf-by-leaf harvesting, where individual leaves are picked as they mature. Stalk cutting allows the tobacco to retain more natural oils, which can result in richer flavors and a more even burn in cigars. The entire plant is then air-cured before the leaves are removed and processed. Stalk-cut tobacco is commonly used in the production of strong, full-bodied cigars, particularly those with maduro wrappers.
