What is Tapado?

Tapado refers to a method of growing tobacco under shade. In this process, large cloth tents are used to filter the sunlight, allowing the tobacco leaves to develop more slowly and with a finer texture. This results in thinner, more delicate leaves, which are often used as wrapper tobacco for premium cigars. The shade-grown method, also known as Tapado, is commonly used in the production of Connecticut Shade wrappers, which are known for their light, creamy flavor. Tapado tobacco is prized for its smoothness and mildness, making it a popular choice for cigars with balanced, elegant profiles.
